Gardeners' World cancelled after BBC announces shake-up as fans complain (2024)

Monty Don often fronts Gardeners' World which airs weekly but has been moved from its regular schedule. The beloved programme usually airs on Fridays at 7pm on BBC Two, but it is being replaced to make way for coverage of the Glastonbury Festival.

Instead, the show aired on Thursday (27 June) at 8pm on BBC Two, a day earlier than normal. They announced the news on the BBC's official Gardeners' World X account in a post shared today.

The post read: "If you're wondering where we are this evening, we were on a day early because of Glastonbury. But fear not, there's a repeat tomorrow at 9am or head over to @BBCiPlayer and catch up with us there. We'd hate you to miss out! #GardenersWorld."

Viewers took to the social media site and vented their frustrations after many admitted they were unaware of the schedule change.

@musketeer_mum tweeted: #GardenersWorld I'm watching Gardeners' World on catchup, as I didn't get the memo that it was on last night. I have a glass of Pimms and my feet up enjoying the show. My roses are good this year, but I'm astonished at the amount of blueberries my two bushes have produced."

@GreenJimll commented: "Just realised that I missed #GardenersWorld last night because it was on a day early to make room for #Glastonbury on the telly. Pants. Still, it will be on iPlayer so I can actually watch it at the same time as normal, even if there won't be a tweet-along at the same time."

@annie said: "Oh no #GardenersWorld Might have to watch it tomorrow..."

@heatherewing01 shared: "Good grief, I nearly missed #GardenersWorld. What's going on?!"

@Stellawexford: "Just remembered #GardenersWorld this evening 8pm," while @ihnewman questioned: "Its Thursday and its #GardenersWorld confused."

Glastonbury is a five-day festival of contemporary performing arts held near Pilton, Somerset, England, and will finish on Sunday.

Viewers will get a chance to watch last night's episode at 9am on Saturday (29 June) on BBC Two.
