Black Easley Anna Yurchak Black, 78, of 100 Ridgeway Court, died Monday, Aug, 11, 2003, at Palmetto Health Baptist -Easley, Born in Mahanoy Plain, Mrs. Black was a daughter of the late Frank and Nancy Yurchak. She was a homemaker and was previously employed at Kash Karry, Hill pharmacy. Baptist Church She in attended Greenville.

Surviving are three sons, Gene Black, of Liberty, George Black, of Honea Path, and Eddie Black, of Simpsonville; three daughters, Nancy Owens, of Greer, Janice Moore, of Greenville, and Arlene Batson, of Easley; a brother, Joey Yurchak, of Tampa, two sisters, Mary Boychuk, of Rochester, N.Y., and Helen Perez, of Monroe, N.Y., eleven grandchildren; and four great Mrs. Black was predeceased by her husband, Carlton Eugene Black; and two brothers, Stevie and Johnny Yurchak. 1 Paul Burgess Greenwood Paul Andrew Burgess, 95, widower of Evelyn Conolly Burgess, died Aug. 10, 2003, at Self Regional Medical Center. Born in Pacolet, Jan. 26, 1908, he was a son of Thomas Martin and Sara "Sallie" George Burgess, and attended Wofford College. Mr.

Burgess joined Greenwood Mills in 1937, where he held several positions, and retired as vice president of finance in 1974. Mr. Burgess was a member of First Baptist Church. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Robert F.

(Joann) Stevenson, of Greenwood; a daughter-in-law, Carol N. Burgess, of Greenwood; a sister, Mrs. Lamar (Ruth) Knox, of Spartanburg; and six grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by a son, Paul Conolly Burgess. Funeral services will be conducted at 3:30 p.m.

Francis Hospital. Born in Greenville, he was a son of the late Clarence Clinton Sr. and Bessie Lee Grant Coleman. He was a graduate of Parker High School and served in the U.S. Army during, WWII.

He was a member of the 692nd Ordnance Ammunition Company, all from Greenville. After the war, he pursued the craft of a brick mason, his journeyman certificaearning, August of 1947. In early '60s, he transitioned from brick masonry to the demolition industry, founding Coleman Wrecking Co. Inc. He demolished many significant structures in the Greenville area, including Furman University, Womens Campus, and the Greenville building.

In the '80s, he transitioned into the salvage industry. Mr. Coleman was a life member of Sam Poe Masonic Lodge where he received his 50-year pin in June, 2003. He was also a member of Greenville Scottish Rite Bodies, Hejaz Shrine Center and Directors Staff of Hejaz Shrine, and upon retirement he was honored as Floor Director Emeritus. He loved to work and travel and loved people.

Mr. Coleman was also a very active member of Pendieton Street Baptist Church. Surviving are his wife of 55 years, Virginia Allgood Coleman; a son, Robert Clinton "Bob" Coleman, and his wife, Brenda Keltner Coleman, of Clear Lake, Texas; six grandchildren, Allen, Cynthia, Matthew, Jessica, Jeremiah and Jonathan Coleman; a sister, Frances "Cat" Mitchell, and her husband, Charlie, of Greenville; a brother, Robert Grady Coleman, of Greenville; and several nieces and nephews. Mary Jane Anderson Dean Piedmont Mary Jane Anderson Dean, 71, of Piedmont, died Aug. 9, 2003, at Anderson Area Medical Center. Born in Sandy Springs, she was the daughter of the late Samuel Washington Anderson and Emma Murphy Anderson Stone. She was also the widow of Charles E. Dean Sr.

Ms. Dean worked as a shoe store manager at Pic and Pay and as a cashier at Today's Beauty Supply. She was a member of Russell Memorial Presbyterian Church. -Dr. B. Frank Finley Easley Dr. Benjamin Franklin Finley, 98, of 201 Louise Lake Road, died Monday, Aug. 11, 2003, at his home.

Dr. Finley was born in Anderson County, a son of the late Ferber A. and Nannie Whitmire Finley. He had lived in Easley most of his life and was a sportsman and dentist. At the time of his retirement, he was the oldest practicing dentist in South Carolina, having begun his practice in Easley in 1927, and retiring in 2000.

He was a graduate of the College of Charleston and Emory University Dental College. Dr. Finley was a member of Antioch United Methodist Church. Surviving, are his son and and daughter-in-law, B. Franklin Finley of Jr.

Lida Childress Finley, Easley; four grandchildren, Robin Finley, Shannon Finley, Amy Wilson and Will Finley, all of Easley; and seven He was predeceased by his great wives, Louise Garrison Finley, Aylmer Garrison Finley and Nellie Smith Finley; and his three brothers, Dr. F.A. Born in Oconee County, she was the daughter of the late Frank Alexander and Elizabeth Allen Gastley, and was the widow of James Edward Grogan. Mrs. Grogan was a member of Arial Baptist Church, had worked as a home healthcare nurse for 20 years and previously worked at Belk in Easley. Surviving are a daughter, Joy Brock, and her husband, Randy, of the home; granddaughters, April Ray, of Anderson, and Anna Brock, of the home; sister, Opal Stephens, of Easley; and a brother, Gastley, of Easley. She was predeceased by a son, James Darryl Grogan.

Greenville William Henry Elsey 86, of Rolling Green Village, died Sunday, Aug. 10, 2003, due to a lengthy illness. Born on March 11, 1917, in Bruceton Mills, W.Va., he was a son of the late William Elsey Sr. and Catherine Schaffer Elsey. Mr.

Elsey worked for United Steel Corp. for 45 years as a mining engineer. He was a Boy Scout leader, president the school board avas was a member of the Lodge of Perfection and the Masonic Lodge. As a member of Rocky Creek Baptist Church, he was a member of the Sam Bagwell Sunday School Class. He was also a member of Mount Moriah Baptist Church in Smithfield, for 60 years, where he served as trustee, Sunday school superintendent, Sunday school teacher and moderator.

Preceding him in death was his sister, Mary Hugh. Surviving are his wife of 63 years, Virginia Everett Elsey; two sons and daughters-in-law, William Paula Elsey, of Centerville, and John "Jack" and June Elsey, of Greenville; grandchildren, John "Jack" Elsey Jana Garrett and Henry and Julia' Elsey; forehead with a cool, damp cloth. She held his hand. But fatigue overcame her about 3:30 yesterday morning. She fell asleep.

When she woke up two hours later, the man she'd married 60 years before was gone. Grace D. Sumerel Laurens Mays Grace D. Sumerel, 77, of 555 Highway 49, wife of James L. Sumerel, died Monday, Aug, 11, 2003, at Laurens County Hospital.

Born in Laurens, she was a daughter of the late John and Mary Jane Rathbone Davis. She was a homemaker and was a member of Lucas Avenue Baptist Church. Surviving, in addition to her husband, are two daughters, Penny S. Pabst, and husband, Harry, of Laurens, and Debra Irick, and husband, Mark of Fountain Inn; a brother, Charlie Davis, of Laurens; two sisters, Beulah Workman and Evelyn Smith, both of Laurens; and three grandchildren, Lindsay Erin Pabst, Miranda Grace Irick and Wyatt Daniel Irick. James W. Taylor Sr. Travelers Rest James "Wink" Wenford Taylor 82, of 134 Kimberly Drive, died peacefully Aug. 11, 2003, at his home. Born in Greenville, he was a son of the late Kirby W.

and Callie Hilllard Taylor. He served in the U.S. Army Air Force during WWII and was a licensed public accountant. Mr. Taylor was an active member of St.

Mark United Methodist Church and the Ruth Donovan Sunday School Class. Surviving are his loving wife of 60 years, Harriette Beard Taylor; three daughters and sons Sandra and Ray F. Verdin, of Mauldin, Barbara and Robert Massingill, of Simpsonville, and Vickie and Linwood Harcum, of New York; a son, James W. Taylor of Travelers Rest; five grandchildren, Brian and Richard Massingill, Lauren Taylor Savannah and Elijah Harcum; and a sister, Catherine Carroll, of Greenville. He was preceded in death by three brothers; and two sisters.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to St. Mark United Methodist Church, 306, N. Franklin Road, Greenville, 29609; or to St. Francis Hospice, 414-A Pettigru Greenville, SC 29601. Memorial services will be held at 3 p.m.

Thursday at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Downtown Chapel, with visitation prior to the service from 1:30 to 2:45 p.m. The family 1 is at the residence: 134 Kimberly Drive, Travelers Rest. Seybell Whitner Easley Seybell Whitner, of 1029 Anderson Road, died Aug. 9, 2003, at her home. Born in Abbeville County, she was a daughter of the late Samuel and Alberta Jones Williams.

Survivors are daughters, Martha Whitner, of the Johnnie Whitner, of Easley; sons, Sam Whitner, of the home, Thomas Whitner, Greenville, and Bobby Whitner, of Pelzer; sisters, Josie Jones, of Piedmont, Corrine Whitner, of Cincinnati, and Betty Downs, Easley; brothers, Bill Jones, of Chicago, Billy Jones, of Pickens, Otis Jones and Casper Jones, of Piedmont, Ray Jones, of Long Island, Leroy Williams, of Abbeville, and Thomas Williams, of California; 12 grandchildren; six great families, grandchildren; and Gantts. and extended Celys Funeral service: 2 p.m. Wednesat Flat Rock AME Church, with burial at the church cemetery.
